Some of the quotable quotes over years

Thought I put this in before I forget, these are some of the genuine great thoughts I have heard from people around, friends and not from any books ...

The top list

1. External interfaces do not portray internal mechanisms - Whenever you find anything happening the way contrary to what you want this is a famous quote from my friend. this is specially applicable to people.

2. Education is Knowledge + application, if there is no application then education may not be useful... Oh wow this came from a normal walk the talk on a regular day...

I will add more as I remember...

Compartmentalization

This is yet another serious funda from my end; regarding how much to compartmentalize work, this may be at sports, work or at home. Pretty technical and specific but still wrote it ...

Let me start with a example that I have seen, while playing TT Tournaments in-between games we get chance to coach and be coached. I have seen at least few people giving instructions like -- Serve here, the return will come to place X you play that to Place Y and then finish the rally from Z -- This is true except for X,Y and Z I have seen such coaching. This is over-compartmentalization.

At the same time, I have seen people coaching saying win this game and the match is yours.... This is under-compartmentalization.

You could compartmentalize a game of TT point by point or have strategies when you are serving or at receiving end.... That is the right way to compartmentalize as I see...

Now, try to map it to the work we do, how many times have we not tried to break tasks during estimation saying, I know the line of code to be changed and then the estimate is analysis 0.2d, coding 0.1d and testing 1d. This is over-compartmentalization. If you know the code change then do it and mark the activity why break it...

There are other extremes where I have seeing implementation of XXXX 35days, what would be done in 35days god alone knows and even the estimator would not know...

Now to the work we do at home, I have not cleaned my home any weekend when I thought Saturday I will cleanup windows, doors and Sunday I will clean the ceiling... instead whenever I just know that something is coming up things get done.... I do compartmentalize but only wrt rooms....

Now, why do I write this funda... I have been noticing a lot of under-compartmentalization and which ends up being a mess towards the end of the lifecycle so better compartmentalize....

Bouquet to Kalaam, Candle for Chandrashekar and Vote for Budhia

Why should I??? Go to some website and offer an e-bouquet, e-candle or vote for a person. The latest one “Send Bouquet to Kalam” – why is he sick? And who assures me that it will be definitely sent?
In today’s world it is not just sufficient that you have feelings you have to vote in a news channel by sms or on their website then only it is taken. After all what kind of publicity is this, who gets the publicity after all?
Here are some more things happening of late on channels….
Himesh keeps screaming in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa….. If he has chosen by choice to be there and he is getting money for it…. Then why the hell is he shouting over there??? But poor public may not realize it and feel that he is really angry and this entire stuff is covered on NEWS Channels for 8-10Hrs.
Tulsi dies in Kyonki…. Wow what a subject… Aaaj Tak and Star News covered the entire event Live…yes Live from Star Plus…. And what questions….. “How are you feeling now that you are dying in the serial?” and to top this all “Baa cries on TV to say I will miss Tulsi…. Oh god what a miss”…..
Now the best, our guy Raja…. (I know many of you don’t know who he is)…. Suddenly on a Monday morning flashed up on Aaaj Tak… why bcos his wife prerana( Now who is she….even I do not know her actual name) left him and went away over night and the entire media wanted to know why they were separated….. What drama… Raja showing to people that he is not Drunk and acting like a villain…… What next after a week he confesses saying that was a publicity stunt for some cheap movie of his….
Many more like this…. Diwaakar is out of a program and people send messages…. Prince (Nobody knows him by name) fell in open well TV Channels busy for 48 Hrs…. and most amazing part they reached there before even locals and rescue team ….
Where our TV is channels specially news channels heading to? No wonder we have the largest number of news channels in the world…. Since we hardly cover NEWS!!!!
No wonder I watch “Star Sports” and whenever I need entertainment switch to a NEWS Channel. Otherwise I would have been busy with programs like “Malgudi Days” or “Family No 1” or “Zabaan Sambhal ke” for that instance…..

Isn't it really TRUE

Recently saw an article which had this statement "Best is the enemy of Good"... is it really.

How true is that, how many times have we not got things down just to move up from "Good" to "Best". This is perhaps the best way to describe perfectionists....

Any thoughts.... I will expand this blog later.... still undecided is it really true

Is everything a learning opportunity perhaps not!!!

The reason this topic comes up is the feeling of most people that given any activity/task/problem treat it as a learning opportunity!!! Well does everything in life really give you some benefit isn't that being too self driven..... Not to say be a saint and “Karm Karo Phal ka iccha math karo”.

Well, I can argue about it in both ways but I somehow tend to argue the other way "Finish it off and if you get something on the way take it...”

This I guess would help me, I do not get let down if there is nothing in it for me... well I would just feel well someone wanted it and I did it an I move on...

If there is a learning coming out, OK that’s good one or a bad one and I carry something from it...

The most important thing is that how do I know that there is a learning coming out of this one or not.... am I an astrologer??? This is again subjective, if you find a lot of things at the start of something then naturally things fade out and there is a time when you only apply learning. Then there are thing where you feel everything done is what I know and suddenly at the end there is a big rock which has in bold written "this is not the way out" here you go!!!! You learn at the end...

Frankly till now I have not been able to determine whether I will learn from something/anything or will it just be yet another get thru thing. Yes, I also am not able to determine "What is in it for me?", I only know that I need to go at that one and then onwards see if I am sailing, rocking or sinking!!! ."What is in it for me?” this normally tends to take away the focus from the fact that there is something that needs a "FULL STOP" immediately and then there may be another "COMMA" added in my learning if possible.

At the end of the day “Karm toh Karna hi hai”…. :) Well that only a thought, the other side of the coin is always welcome.....
